The program automatically operated in my system language (german). I would like to know if there are any traces of this kind of malware or possibly other kinds of malware currently infecting my system. I am currently also running the Microsoft Safety Scanner, which seems to take multiple hours.
A full scan with Malwarebytes did not detect any threats. But I am not sure if it has spread to other parts of my system.
I am fairly certain that it came from an E-Mail-Attachment that was sent to me by a colleague from work, possibly from a spreadsheet, because the timestamp of windows defender aligns with me opening the attachment.Īs I have said, my Windows Defender seemed to have successfully detected, quarantined and deleted Occam.aa. I did not notice any difference regarding the performance of my OS or browser. Though I remember the directory D:\autorun.inf. Not knowing better, I deleted the file via Windows Defender, not memorizing its supposed location. This morning my Windows Defender successfully blocked and quarantined the RAT Occam.aa.
